What should I replace while the dash is out?

I'm just about ready to start ripping out the interior. I have just about everything I need in boxes in the garage. I'll be replacing the carpet, most trim pieces, console, dash pads, etc. While I have the dash off, I'm putting in better speakers, replacing ALL the bulbs, replacing the heater core, and putting in a new tach cable (old one snapped at the distributer end). Is there anything else I should replace "while I'm at it"? I know that gets expensive
, but I want to have the dash out once.

Check out your air "doors for your heater and ventilation, along with the duct hoses.put some insulation on the inside of the firewall behind the dash, and cover up any unnecessary holes,a lot of engine heat comes through that firewall, also check your heater box gaskets while your in there

Just my 2 Cents if you are having door problems such as a sag great time to replace door hinges or at least replace the pins. Also agree with Ron, put some insulation on the firewall. Oh crap now you got me going. Heater core OK if not nows the time. And of course the heater box diaphram. Thats all for now maybe 5 cents worth instead of 2.

Sounds like you're on the right track. You might as well change the speedo cable too, otherwise you may have to take the dash apart again when and if it fails.
