Vette(s): 1979 Red L-48 Corvette with Doeskin interior, 3-speed automatic, 3.55 rear; 1986 L-98 Coupe, 4+3 Manual - Satin Black and Purple (SCCA TT/Hillclimb Car); 1993 White LT-1 Coupe, Black Interior, 6-speed
The only real flaw I have found in Corvette engineering is nobody seemed to give much thought about how water should flow around and through the car.  I guess when you have a body that is that beautiful, you have to put up with a few compromises.

But, I am going to pull my kick panels off this evening Wink

Thanks for the advice Joel. I am going to pull my kick panels this weekend to take a look behind there. I haven't had them off in years. No telling what I might fined back there.

When I tore the 69 apart, I used the shop vac to suck out a ton of crap on both sides then I flushed them out from the top down to make sure everything was clean and fresh when I put it back together.

GUESS WHAT ? I HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM . BUT, MINE LEAKS ON BOTH SIDES ! I CAN SEE IT DRIPPING FROM UNDER THE DASH, IN THE SAME PLACE ON BOTH SIDES, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS VERY ODD. IT WILL DRIP ON THE KICK PANELS, AND , OF COURSE, WET THE RUG ! SO FAR, NO LUCK IN FINDING IT. MAYBE WHEN IT GETS THE BODY DONE, THEY CAN FIND IT. SO FAR, NO SOAP Unhappy.

Look in the w-wiper well...if the asphalt sealant is missing, or dried up, it will leak water behind the dash, and on to the floor like that. A w-shield leak will do the same. You can use some spray on undercoating in the wiper well to seal it, but sealing the windshield properly requires removal...

I couldn't believe that the asphalt sealant was factory installed.
I thought some PO named Bubba did that to band-aid a leak.
I have seen '82s where it was removed and they claimed it didn't leak.
Do I dare remove it?
Would the NCRS police deduct points if it was missing?
Right now it is covered with the black plastic cover and it don't leak. At least not there. Knock on wood.

OH, THE ASPHALT DOESN'T LOOK TOO HEALTHY FOR SURE. IT WAS ' PATCHED ' UP, FROM WHAT I CAN SEE . THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM RIGHT THERE . THAT WILL HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE ' LUCKY' PAINT SHOP THAT GETS MY CAR,
AS FOR THE WINDSHIELD ? I'VE CHECKED EVERY INCH OF IT, AND THE SEALANT IS IN PERFECT SHAPE. NOT DRIED, NO CRACKS, ETC.
IT'S JUST A VERY ANNOYING LEAK , AS IT HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS, OR IN A CAR WASH !!! . I CAN SEE IT DRIPPING FROM UP UNDER THE DASH, BUT LOSE IT FROM THE ACTUAL POINT OF ENTRY . YOU ALL KNOW HOW MUCH ' FUN' IT IS TO GET YOUR HEAD UNDER A VETTE DASH Angry..............
