joel..might have changed things a bit. had a 73 gm car with the washer
on the wiper motor. used the wire that controlled the washer on the
original for a pump that worked on its own. as it had a metal bracket
that is probably why i didn't need a ground compared to the plastic
container mounted pump. the switch inside still worked the pump but as
you said you have to hold it down for the pump to work. on the wiper
mounted pumps there was a a gear that a clip would cycle to make it
automatic.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Thanks guys. One more thing... The filler neck on my washer bottle has a bolt that looks like it supposed to connect it and keep it in place. Problem is, I don't see where. Given the way the plastic is molded, I would guess that it would attach to a bracket of some sort on the fender, but there isn't one there.
Before I got the car, the front clip was replaced and someone put an aftermarket alarm in. I'm wondering if the original braket was left on the original fender and/or if the placement of the horn for the aftermarket alarm neccessitated removal of the bracket (the horn is right there between the filler neck and the fender wall now). The filler neck seems to be fine without any kind of support.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

never really looked how it was attached but i would assume it would be
the same as the overflow for radiator mounted on the wheel well.

There should be a small, sheet metal bracket riveted to the upper fender lip to hold the neck. If the front was replaced, this bracket may not have been installed on it, or it may not have had it to start with, depending on where the clip came from, and what year it was. I can snap a pic if it would help...

Thanks Joel. No rush, but yes, if you get around to taking a picture, it might help me keep an eye out for it at swap meets this summer.
I'm really surprised since it seems like whoever replaced the front clip and the tail was so careful in other ways. The tail is an Ecklers two-piece and the front looks very original too.

That one little question I posted back in Oct.06 relly got some attention,thats cool. I finally discovered that on my 77 the washer pump is on bottom of bottle.It did NOT work when I put 12v to it so I opened it up and discoved crap from 1978.I cleaned it all and now it works fine.I re-installed it on a new bottle
