My '73 left me beside the road yesterday. dead battery and (apparently) no alternator juice going into it. Just wondered what the voltage should be at the back of the alternator with the engine idling. I'll charge my battery back up, start it and measure the voltage. Also for all ya'll that have upgraded the alt to a higher amp version, what'd ya get and where for how much? Thanks

I picked up a 135 amp chrome alternator from e-bay for $99.00. It is offered by a retailer every once and a while. I have seen it three times so far.

You should get 14+ volts at the alternator. Your wiring should be OK. Joe
