I am trying to remove the drivers side visor and cannot figure out how. I removed the chrome cap and it looks like a lock cap (Thingy) holding the shaft in place. I finally found a telescopic visor to replace the original with out damaging it.
Thanks!

Do you have the assembly instruction manual? The AIM shows how the visors were installed. Knowing how they were installed helps a bit when taking them out.

If memory serves, there is a metal pin retainer on the end of the visor which you will have to pry out with a screwdriver. I've read a couple of articles which say you can expect to have to sacrifice the retainer since you are not likely to get it out without damaging it.

I have removed it AND been able to reuse the retainer. Mayber I was lucky. My best memory is that I pried the retainer clip up with a screwdriver on each side. The clip will look like a very thin washer with "teeth" on the inside of the circle that grab into the groove in the elbow shaft of the visor. And you are in the correct spot, the clip is under that little chrome cover you have removed.
Good luck!

Ive had mine out too Phill and I think John is right, the retainer is a toothed washer looking thing. I was able to reuse my retainers too but had to use a screwdriver to bend the teeth back under the shouler on the visor shaft. I broke a few teeth in the process but it is holding fine and it cant be seen under the chrome plug. Ive seen the retainers listed by some of the corvette vendors for sale in case yours arent usable after the removal. Seems like mine had two of the retainer washers on it and that holds the spring under tension. Once the retainer is off, you may have to tap the top of the shaft where you removed the retainer to get the visor to drop out of the hole, they seem to be tapered and fit very snugly.

Yes, I do have the AIM manual, but was hoping there was a way to remove that retainer clip thingy without destroying it. I am getting ready to place an order with Ecklers, so I will add a replacement retainer just in case I cannot reuse the original.
Thanks for the help!
