Has anyone done anything different under the hood as far as for looks. I have put new insulation but needless to say if it's a driver it's gonna get messed up. When I go to shows... the engine compartment looks good except for that insulation Confused. I have seen some nice C-5 and C-6 custom inserts but no C-3's. I did see one C-3 that was painted the car color and looked good too, with chromed latches. There is no way I can think of to clean that insulation...

Hi Ray,

I bought new from MidAmerica. I've been trying to get Kris to airbrush it but she hasn't bought off on it yet. She's a great artist...

The '73-4-5 cars with the cowl induction hoods have a different insulation mat than the other cars. It has a sort of "key-hole" look to it. makes it kinda hard to do much in the way of custom, unless you remove the insulation mat, and paint the bottom of the hood.
You could do that, and then install the mat when you're just drivin it around. The problem with that is the little retainer pins on the hood would have to be incorporated into the paint scheme.
Seems like you may be in a little pickle on this one, Ray!

Hey Jim... did you buy new insulation or something else? Hmm so you know an artist huh... when you convince her to do it let me see...Smile
I did buy a new insulator (not real cheap) which was OK until the clutch on my A/C went out and the belt disintegrated/deposited rubber all over it.
You are right again Joel... I may just have to get use to the idea of the thing being functional and not a cosmetic improvement...Confused.. hey.. wait a minute... maybe I could have two of them... replace the little clips/ posts with velcro and when I get to a show I could swap them out Tongue... you know this past year I had so many importaant things to do on it... I didn't have time for this kind of stuff Dead...... Maybe I will just shut the hood LOL...

Hey Dave, Can a guy get a closer look at that image. Man, I would love to see a larger image. You can send it to me direct at vwhitehead@woh.rr.com
