Do you mean the factory switch or the aftermarket switch available to manually turn the hood light on or off?
The factory switch should be in the vicinity of the cowl behind the distributor where the hood can impinge on it activating or deactivating the light. At least that's where it is on my '78.
The aftermarket add-on switch is located on the left fender well right by the hood support, in-line with the underhood wire.

The underhood light is operated by a mercury switch inside the light housing. The switch by the cowl is for the factory alarm.

Theres a switch
no way, I thought it always worked when the hood was raised to a certain level and made contact withe the lower half of the hood support. I'll tell you what though, don't touch that baby after shes been on for 2 seconds, burnt the chit outta my finger trying to take it out

Hmmmmmmmm, never used those lights. Always took the bulbs out. I guess someone has found a use for them. Go figure !
