I have a couple of questions for my vette brothers and sisters. I am in the process of having my 78 silver aniversary edition repainted. My questions are the bottom of the hood, is there any area painted silver? and is there any area around the hood closure area and cowling that is painted silver? This car had been repainted several times and it is difficult to tell what is original and what is not. I am attempting to repaint the car in the original two tone gray and silver.

The silver goes along the sides of the hood opening, and around the corner for about an inch.  There is a neat straight break running front to rear.  The heater box is gray/black fiberglass, but not painted.  The hood hinges and latches are zinc plated.  The control arms are a little shinier semi gloss black, but the shafts are bare metal, as are the bolts. Pretty much everything else I can think of is semi gloss black.  The bare metal items can be painted with cast blast or another bare metal look paint.

That's all I can think of right now.  Have fun.
