THE FOIL COVERED INSULATION THAT IS UNDER THE CAR, ON THE CHASSIS, BETWEEN THE EXHAUST & THE FLOOR BOARDS. HOW HARD TO REPLACE, I HAVE SIDE EXHAUST. LOOKED IN CORVETTE AMERICA CATALOG, AND IT DOESN'T LOOK TO BAD. ANY TRICKS FROM THOSE WHO HAVE DONE IT BEFORE?

I just replaced the same cover on our 71 4spd conv. It was missing when we acquired it and your right .Not a big problem to insert. We only had to cut the narrow strip that goes around the shifter since they were installed prior to mating body and chassis. Weslid it over the top of the bell housing and when on top pulled it into position towards the back and then clipped it to the bottom of the body where it was positioned originally. The one cut can't even been seen. It sure does cut down on heat.

I may have to check into replacing mine. When I replaced the clutch a couple of years ago that piece came out in crispy chunks. Was under the gun to get the job done so didn't replace it at the time. Good to know it can be slipped in again without having to drop the tranny.
