This is a dumb question but, what is the intended way you’re supposed to store the T-tops in the back of a 78SA?  I don’t have a bag or anything and what’s the strap for back there?  It’s spring and time to pop the tops!

Vette(s): 1974, 454 with 4 on the floor, matching numbers.
The strap is to hold the tops in place, I don't think there's any difference between my 74 and your 78, but I do know that if the tops aren't secured correctly road vibration can cause the tops to rub causing your paint to develop "rub" spots. I strongly suggest you get bags for them. They offer a lot of protection.

I've got both sets of t-tops for my Vette, the regular bags for the fibreglass ones and the padded luggage type for the glass ones, either way they are a pain in the a$$ to carry around, the take up all the storage room, even with the extra room I have in the 78 with the larger space back thereAngry

T-tops guys - I feel your pain with the storage problem, but have you seen the space left when the convertible top is down? I can store a box of Ritz crackers back there.....Rolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing

Now I can relate to your problem John. Try adding a NOS bottle and a fire extinguisger back there. LOL

The owner's manual shows how to store the tops in the back, but...it just don't seem to work they way they say it will! The straps are for "securing" them...I use mine to keep whatever is back there from bouncin around! I have a hard time putting mine back there, even with the bags, and padding. I just don't like the idea of damaging them just yet. They will get scratched, one way or another. One of these days, I may even take mine off before driving it!

Whew - that must have taken some skill - and maybe a prybar - to get that back there!

I have two pieces of bubble wrap the same size as the floorspace back there. I lay one down, bag the tops, put one down the same way it fits the roof, put the next peice of bubble wrap, and finally lay the other one in slightly overlapping the first. It works well, haven't had any damage yet. Of course I usually leave them home if I am staying local.

Bubble wrap might be a good deal, except....how the heck would you keep Mama from "popping" the dam things all day?! She LOVES that stuff!

I bought a used T Top storage case at a swap meet. Works great - padded and felt interior, straps down nicely and no fear of any marks...Wink
