I bought a second set of t-tops.Installed new Corvette Rubber Weather strip is a few weeks ago.Getting some retty bad creaking out of my passenger side t-top.The tops line up nice.
When I place a dollar bill between the t-tops and the windshield frame I can pull the bill out with some effort. On both tops.Is this ok?The w/s do have some Krytox lube on them.
I installed GM w/s on my original tops and never had any creaks. Can't buy the GM's anymore.

I can only tell you about my experience installing aftermarket w/s. I did it to both sets of tops (glass & regular) and now they are both much harder to seat, and when they are in place, I get a bit of wind noise, and if I drive in the rain, water drips in.

I don't know if is because of a poor installation job, or because they are aftermarket, but I'm really not happy how it turned out. I'm not even sure what to do about it at this point. Let me know what you wind up doing, so I'll know if I should do the same to mine.

Good Luck!

Whew! Am I glad I found this thread! I've been considering redoing the w/s on my '76 as well. I have two leaks - left corner (drips on hand on steering wheel) and center (drips on hand on shift). It's like a Water Torture system in there when it rains! |eek|

However, it sounds like this may not be as simple a problem as just replacing the w/s. I'll be eager to hear if either of you (or anyone else for that matter) has any suggestions that have proven to work!
