I needed to remove the interior panel on my t - top. When I did this a couple of the metal brackets the round black fasteners are connected to also came off. Actually the black fastener from the t-top panel is still stuck to the top black fastener of the t-top with the metal bracket attached. Getting the two black fasteners apart won't be my problem. How do I re-attach the metal bracket to the t-top liner. I appears it was "pressed" in at the factory? Thanks for any suggestions. Kenny78 2006-11-10 07:37:10

If the bracket tore the headliner(cardboard-like stuff), it will be hard to get it fixed, but not impossible. I assume the bracket you are talking about is the one that is bent like a hook on the end that fits into the headliner?

They are the brackets that are "pressed" into the cardboard-like material and have a round black fastener rivited to it which connects to the top portion of the t-top. It is not torn, just pulled out of that material. I not sure I understand the second part of your response. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I fiberglassed mine back in place. Covered a large area around the bracket for strength and just made sure I didn't stick them suckers back together until I was done with everything so I didn't have to pry em apart again. I actually used fiberglass matting so that when I do pull, I'm pulling on a larger diameter than just that weenie piece of cardboard that the bracket was in....

I also marked exactly where the fasteners were with a small dot on the very edge of the panels so I can use a panel removal tool to get em apart in the future. Modified the tool a little bit.
Good luck with whatever route you go

I have a similar issue. My ex took all the brackets off the metal part of the t-tops and the cardboard part of the tops as well.... ahh yeah!! So I can see where the brackets were on the carboard part so I think I will take the above advice and fiberglass thoe back on, but not sure how to attach the ones back to the metal part of the t-top. any ideas?
