I have same type question about the trim around the windshield, back glass and rocker panels under doors on my 78. minor scratches, so guess steel wool then clean with degreaser and repaint. primer first ? flat black? satin black? daily driver, non NCRS. Good tips on painting the tire carrier.
thanks,
Bick

I'd say satin on the trim. The trim is not supposed to be really shiny, but it's not a dull, flat look either. Don't know about priming, tho...there is a specific type of paint for stainless that works well, compared to just a regular spray bomb enamel, or lacquer. Most parts houses have it, as do the 'Vette vendors...

FLAT BLACK OR SEMI FOR SURE. HOWEVER I LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS WITHOUT THE CARRIER ALL TOGETHER. WITH MY OVER SIZED RIMS AND TARS I JUST AS WELL CALL AAA . DOESN`T HELP ME IF I GET A BLOWOUT THOIUGH DOES IT. THAT `LL BE A TOW TO THE NEAREST TIRE STORE. i GUESS I LIKE LIVING ON THE EDGE.
