Just one leetle question. While I was replacing the weatherstripping ,The trim on the windshield was a sorta painted black. Is this supposed to be black? While I had it off, I used some paint remover, and shined up the stainless.  I kinda like that. But I'm curious if it's supposed to be black, or shiny

I think the '77s should be stainless(bright), not painted. When the '78's came out, wid da large rear window, the trim got painted.
The scratches were optional!

Anyway, it's going to be shiny, I kinda like it. The car is a driver, clean on the outside, dirty on the bottom, and me grinning in the middle.

anybody have good reference to repainting the black windshield posts and rear window trim. 78's actually had at least two different paint styles on rear window. Mid years were half and half and later in year all black I remember.
mine have a few scratches to be done away with. Also rocker panels.
Looks like a flat black or satin black
Thanks,
Bick

My 77s trim was black also.  It was half on and half off when I brought her back to life (scratches were standard)!!  I buffed it out to get the chrome look, I like it better too!!  Not much chrome on these old gals, I'll take all I can get!!Cool
