That's why I "treated" my motorcycle engine block during working hours when my wife was at work.  First was the hot water wash in the bath tub.  Brush on Sodium Silicate, wash off. repeat. Bake for 20 minutes!

Oh boy, do I hear you John. I'll make sure she's not home if I ever cure paint in the oven again. I just didn't see what was so wrong..........And the Only thing not correct is the 454 emblem is from a 72. No emblems on the 73 or 74. I just kind of liked it.

Original paint Ebo. It looked great for it's age until I spun it through a barbed wire fence. The back and the right side are pretty scratched up. Holes in both back corners, albeit small ones. Damaged the rocker molding. I didn't want to just touch it up and hope it all matched. The factory paint really was less than great in 1973. There are areas where it was thin. There are chips and things that happen to enamel paint. The new paint will be the same color, but, brighter, deeper and more durable..

Ebo, let me expand on that last post. Original paint, but not all factory. I called the original owner 8-9 years ago to talk to him about this car. The factory paint was not good. The dealership touched it up on warranty. He wasn't completely happy about that either.

OK understood, well once they are blocked and with todays paints it should look pretty slippery!

Just got the chrome back today. Looks like jewelry. Paints almost stripped. I'll post some more pics soon.
