Should the Ammeter have continuity if you put a lead on each of its post's? This is a new gauge and it's not working. The old rusty one has continuity but I don't know if it worked or not.

I believed it should, but I took a good used one and checked. It had continuity with and without the shunt.

Yeah...any gauge should show continuity across the terminals. Can't say off-hand what the AMP gauge should show, but it should give you some kind of reading on your test meter...
