I'm getting ready to order new hinge springs for my doors out of a vette catalog and was wondering if they are good ones or should I try to find nos......And do I really need that ten dollar installation tool (bent screwdriver) to get the job done?

The $10 screwdriver is well worth it, unless you have one you can bend yourself! It takes 90% of the hassle out of installing the springs, and at least 50% of the chance of putting a huge gouge in your paint from some other tool slipping off.

I borrowed the tool from one of the vette guys. Ya might check yer local club, they tend to have one floating around somewhere. We tried with a regular screwdriver, the old drum brake tool, the 90 degree screwdriver and several other things. I did gouge the paint on the inside of the fender.
Then we got the tool. Quick and simple.

I e-mailed the place and a fellow said "call me". I haven't, but If the screw em up driver is the trick then I'll get it too. (Can't never have enough tools...
