The guy I bough my car from has after market tail light lens on it. He gave me the orginal lens but. The reverse lights come on with the parking lights. Does anybody have any idea how I can fix it so the reverse lights come on when I put the car in reverse and not when I turn on the lights. Thank you, Tom

Did the car have the bubble lights when you bought it? If so, he might have use the "whole" kit so he had 4 lights on in the rear. You will have to get under there and see what kind of Bubba wiring he did.

Are you familiar with the conversion kits I'm talking about? You might have to look in the console, at the tranny, or maybe the kit has a different type of socket for the bulb?

I found the lenses at corvette central they were only $23 for four lenses. I don't think their was any kit involved.
Check out my new pic.

Looks good. You can just buy the lenses or you can buy a conversion kit which has new sockets to replace the ones for the backup lights. it replaces them with regular tail light sockets. you might want to re-check the wiring under there to make sure it wasn't spliced or cut anywhere. just a thought.

Vette(s): 1968 convertible; 1980 L-82. Numbers match on both.
I run the bubble lenses on both my cars. For the '68, all I needed were the lenses. For the '80 and for all cars with backup lamps on the inner lights, a conversion kit is required. It pigtails the outer lights to the inners and replaces the back up lamps. If your car is '69 and older, you will probably find evidence of the conversion back there. Look for pigtails linking the inner and outer lamps. If you're lucky, the previous owner did not cut the back-up lamps. I did not cut them on my '80; removed the bulbs, tucked up the wiring, and taped them to the harness. They are out of the way and still there should I ever want to return to the stock lamps. None of this should have anything to do with the rear fiber optics.

I just want to let all of you know that replyed to this post that I have the orignal tail light lens back in. I called the guy I bought the car off of and he told me how he did it. he took very good care of this car and did not butcher it up. I'm having the time of my life since I bough this car. |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy| |jumpy|

Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
What happens with the reverse lights when you do the conversion? I need new lenses for my 74 (non-bubble ones) and I like the bubble ones better than the ones I have now. My center lights also have the reverse lights in them. So you're saying I need the entire kit, not just the lenses?

Thanks

Imran
