Vette(s): 1980. 330 hp 350 been sitting for 3 yrs, so everything needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
Thanks for the info and advice. I will change the OP sending unit and see if that makes a difference. Not sure if the one on the car is original since it does not look like a small beer can. Wish I could find a picture of one. Any ideas? Can't find one on Mid America or  Corvettte America.

Thanks again.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
I had a similar problem with my tach, and replaced the board.  It then did much more, but was still odd and wrong.  I had to have the coils in the tach itself replaced as well.  So I had a two part hit.
Bairs has a good price on a tach board, and if it doesn't work there is a note included of the guy they get the board from.   Send him the tach and the board and he will make it right.  Usually the coil in the tach itself.  He charges $25 to replace the coils.    Very happy with mine.
