Help,
My 79 C3 tachometer stopped working-stuck at 2000RPM. Any thoughts before I start pulling things apart?
Thanks,
mike C.

Does it not move at all when you turn the key on(engine not running)? If so, the circuit board is prolly fried. Check ALL of your fuses first, tho. The circuit board is on the back of the tach/speedo cluster.

Hi Joel,
thanks for your kind reply.
The tach needle stays at 2000, running or not.
Is it time to pull the instument panel out?
Thanks,
Mike

Prolly...have you tried tapping on the panel to see if the needle is just stuck?
Has it ever worked, or did it just recently stick right there?
I'd still start with checking ALL of the fuses.

Hi Joel,
Just made time this weekend to get back to my tach problem; got brave tonight and with perseverance and patience pulled out the instrument panel. I have the tach out! Now what?
The needle would not move when engine was on and sits about 1500. If I push it down it slowly it creeps back up. Is there a way to ck it off the car?
Thanks,
Mike
