I Just won a set of t-tops on e-bay advertised as 79 and they came to me with 68-73 hardware. What do you think people can I just change out the hardware?

I think so. I think the tops were the same, but the hardware was changed a couple of times. I believe you can change the hardware and use them with some minor adjustments.

Just can not remember what years use what arraingments...BUT I think to fit a 79 all you have to do is remove the end of the locking "bar" that is inside the top itself...so that its end just slides into the hole in the targa area ...

you need a few more "parts" to go the other way....but the 79 just has a chrome bracket with a simple hole in it for that  rod to fit into... Been years but I used to switch tops on my 76 & 79 all the time and the modifications took maybe 2 minutes

Vette(s): 1969 C3 Coupe. Was an L-46 now a ZZ3 w/M-21 4-speed, manual steering and brakes, 3.70 Posi. Red with Balck interior, non-numbers matching.

Speaking of T-Tops, does ANYONE make replacement T-Top weather stripping for the 68-69 style (2-piece) tops?

Everyone says you can retrofit the later 1 piece style to these but you need some sort of retainer or something from the 70 on up style.

I'd prefer just to keep mine the way it rolled off the assembly line in 69. Any suggestions or advice?!

Thanks!

Elm.

Try this. It says for '69, but I don't know........

I went to the "soft Seal" website, because that's where I get all mine, and this is what was there. May be right, may not. Worth a shot?

Vette(s): Just finished 2 years of Blood, Sweat, & Tears restoring my 69 Coupe. Crimsom Red, 427, vacuum removed, Shot of Steeroids, Killer Lights, 5 Speed, still working on small things but she is back on the road.

I would also check out Dr Rebuild.  They seem to have things more orginal than others and parts you just can't find anywhere as well.

Thanks for the input guys- Anything that is listed as 69-7X are the one piece seals. 68-69 were the only years that had the 2 piece arrangement. While at Bloomington Gold last week, I couldn't find anyone that could explain the difference or modifications required either- Go figure?

Has anyone out here replaced their original 1969 2 piece w/s with the 1 piece and lived to talk about it??

LOL

Thanks! Elm.

I replaced mine with a one piece and didn't have any issues.  I bought mine from Ecklers.
