Yesterday I was jacking up the front passenger side of my 82 to do some work and heard a cracking noise. Turns out a stress crack is forming and propagating on the front panel just where the door panel and front body panel come together. Any way to fix that easily? I wonder if that area could be reinforced from the inside with some fiberglass resin and cloth to strengthen it?

Really sorry to hear that Ed ! The cracking where you indicated is quite common and very hard to get to . I think you will find the door hinges etc blocking your way. Jacking these cars can and often does lead to body structural damage that is costly to repair . There is jack placement info in your owners handbook , but I have seen cracking still occur using this info.
I think removal of the door and hinges may give you the roon you need to grind the surface properly to get a good repair .
