Vette(s): 2004 Commemorative Edition Coupe, Auto w/HUD. 13K miles in 2015. Sold 1982 Red Coupe
My original leather-wrapped wheel was twisted and grungy. Not worth cleaning.
So I bought a new wheel, planning to have the old one rewrapped some day. Or the next owner can do that.

I just cleaned my original 72 steering wheel, had the same tacky feel to it. My wife had some stuff called "GOO GONE". I used it with an old tooth brush and then used 409 to take off the GOO GONE. It looks and feels a lot better.

Vette(s): 1981 - 59 Beige over Cinnebar leather. Edlebrock top end, 2200 stall w/shift kit, 3:55s, Mufflex maniback exhaust, nice stereo, 16 in AREs w/BFGs
Theres a small prob w/Googone or Goof Off.  If you have a split in the leather, it will eat the backing from the inside out.
