For those that have a "late" shark, there is a conversion from your 85 (ugh) speedometer to either a 140 or a 165MPH version. Saw the below in a 2004 Eckler's catalog.

      140 Or 165 MPH
�     Looks Just Like Original
To upgrade your 1978-82 speedometer, send it to Eckler's, 5140 S. Washington Ave., Titusville, FL 32780: freight prepaid and insured. Allow 2-3 weeks turn around time. The cost for the conversion service is listed below and depending upon the condition of your gauge, parts can run an additional $125.00-$175.00. We will notify you if additional charges are required. Include return address and credit card information.
42719 140 MPH     169.99 ea. 42720 165 MPH 169.99 ea.

I remember someone at last year's C3X talking about running down to BG with the speedometer "pegged" at 85MPH! This'll solve that - though it's not real cheap.

But I am not sure I wanted to know how fast I was going, trying to keep up with Sarge81, who's speedo wasn't working.
I believe Sarge has a new speedo that reads upto 140 MPH. And I'll bring the walkie-talkies again so he can tell me how fast we are going. lol

Its one of those Saturday mornings I guess.... MY 79 has a 140 MPh
Speedo... and I though they went to a 85 Mph speedo sometime in the middle that model year....as a running change..same with the 3 to 2 compartments behind the seats... so I do not think any 78's had 85 MPH speedos...

Am I right or do I need another cup of Coffee...

Dave...that was a cool pic of your dash showing your speedo buried. BTW, Dave I got burnt on that 140 mph. speedo. Partially my fault for not paying attn. It's a 140 kmh speedo. One of these days I have to put it out. Iron82 is interested in it. I didn't forget Mike!
