Speedo/Tach firewall grommet

Vette(s): 1972 LT-1 convertible with factory air. 2017 Black Rose Grand Sport M7 convertible.
Speedometer/Tachometer firewall grommet.  How are you supposed to get those great big ends through the little hole in the grommet?  The one I got from Ecklers has metal clips on one side (inside?  outside?)  so I think there is metal in the rubber.

Grease. The rubber will stretch more than you think it will. The only metal is around the circumference. The hole needs to be small so it will actually seal the cable.  Big smile
