I am thinking of replacing my rear speakers with the sound bar speakers from Ecklers. Does any one have or know anything about those speaker? Nice sound? They seem to be convenient and take up little space.
Thanks,
Darrell

I had those sound bar speakers in the '78 I used to own. They were decent...not great. They were better than the factory speakers in the dash. Their best virtue is the little space they take up for better than factory sound.

Manget1 Marshall made a pretty nice set up for his Vert, i think it was a one oiece unit and removable with deck and all in it, then remote up front. I think he has pictures of it.

Hi Darrell, That soundbar (Custom Autosound) from Eckler's should be a big improvement over the factory speakers. For the best performance from the soundbar you may want to add an amplifier to the system. Most radios do not have enough power for clean sound at a volume needed to hear the music above road noise and engine noise.
For the soundbar in your Vette I suggest an amplifier rated at 50 watts per channel, 2 channels.

"Speakers" in a vette. Who needs speakers.
Just need some loud mufflers and go cruising! Actually I have the sound bar in my 74. I upgraded the radio to a 4 speaker system. I replaced the fronts with the factory replacements then put the sound bar in the back. They have very good sound but wont blow you out of the car if thats what your looking for. They do take up little space and I actually didnt use the center section. I just hung them from the back that way the interior light still gives off "very little" light as it was designed.
I just drilled them into a ledge under there and used tie wraps to keep them high enough that you cant see them. I will probably get another set of them for the 72 as well! Hope this helps.

Here's the post ebo mentioned
I eventually grew tired of the lack of space if gave me and ended up getting my stock radio upgraded to modern ciruitry with an iPod connection. But it did sound good when it was in. The powered sub really worked well

I upgraded the radio with the new circuitry as well. They take out the old radio guts and replace it with modern technology. Then as said above you can get an I-pod hook up which is a great addition. There are many places that will do this update. You also get more output which makes a much better sound. Great choice.

[/QUOTE] I forgot to mention that after I had that done, Mid-America started selling those new radios with the new guts. If I had to do it again, I'd go that road since it would leave me with the original radio intact. The price of the radio they're selling is the same as what it cost me to get mine upgraded.
