Ok, this is where I get to be kicked around a little bit , but I enjoy getting rough occassionally. Are your speakers actually in the dash or still in the kick panels in '71? |headscratch|

Hey Bob,

I had the right side of "The Toy" apart last spring while installing a radio. It is very easy to take apart and the speaker is very accessible. I haven't ventured into the left side yet, but will have to as the speakers the PO had installed with the "POS" AM/FM/Casstte unit are not compatible with the 1970 AM/FM Stereo radio. So I'll also be interested in what you find out about getting at the left side speaker.

Just changed the speakers in my 74. It was't too bad. Take out all the screws going into the top dash pad. take off the right front dash pad. ther are two screws up underneath on either side of the defrost grill. Take off the windshield post trim on each side. The dash pulls back and up off severa clip around the windshield area.

Well, maybe it was bad. The worst part was my rotten dash pad.

i was suprised how easy it is to get to the speakers. I've worked on cars that you had to get to them from the bottom. take the windshield post covers off and the dash pad comes out easily. then you will see the sprakers right out in the open. i don't remember any screws in the defroster grill? |headscratch| is this a 74 and later item?
