I have something draining the battery on my 75 vette. No interior lights are on-all functioning fine, and the key switch is turned off but if I leave my battery connected for as little as 3 days I will have a dead battery. I am not driving the car yet but work on it 3-4 time a week and crank it at least twice a week. Alternator is brand new and working fine, battery is brand new-the third one I have installed because of this situation. How do I go about troubleshooting to solve this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The best solution is to get a battery dis-connect switch, and disconnect it when the car is parked. Just about ANY Shark that sits for a few days will drain the battery...it appears to be the nature of the beast. Get a disconnect switch, and, if you park your Corvette in a garage, get one of the small "Battery Tender" type chargers for it. That will keep the bat. good and hot all the time, and ready for your next cruise. A "Trickle" charger puts out too many amps, and will fry the battery if left on. The Battery Minder/Tender styles will not, as they only put out about.75 amps or less. They'll keep it charged without boiling the electrolyte.

I had the same problem with my 72. I couldn't let it sit for more than 4-5 days and the battery would go down. I took it to the shop that I use and they did a quick systems check and found that I had a .1 draw. That is not worth spending any time and money trying to find, so I put on a disconnect switch that Joel was talking about. Problem solved. Now anytime the vette is going to sit for a week or more, I just flip the switch.
This is another reason I like this site so much. Almost every problem I have had, someone else has already experienced it and is willing to help.

My 72 is the same - very low draw and not worth the time or expense to find it - battery disconnect switch is the way to go

have heard this and always cringe cause i get tied up and forget to start the 75 up when i should. guess i am one of the lucky ones as i get everything ready as i figure the battery will be dead and it starts right up. probably now that i said something i'll go out and the battery will be dead.

CTEK makes a nice unit. I watched them install this in a C6 on Dream Car Garage. You just mount in/on the car and plug it in when the car is sitting for a few days. That will be my next project after I install my 140MPH speedo conversion I sent off today.

I agree with everyone else, Vettes are battery eaters during storage. I've got a battery disconnect switch I use even just overnite. I also use a battery tender and also the disconnect when its to set for more than a few days. Maybe a little overkill, but no problems now.
