I purchase a 69 Vette with side pipes that had been stripped for painting.  The side pipe covers were off when I received the Vet.  My question is:  do the side pipes bolt to a bracket then bolt to the car?  The assembly manual shows the bolts going through the cover to the car, but my side pipes do not have holes that extend through the side pipe.  Any help would be grealty appreciated.

The pipes are held to the car by "T" bolts, that fit into slots on the frame, at the front, and back of the rocker area. There are a couple of bushing/insulators that go on the bolts, and then the pipes go on, then a couple more bushings, and nuts. The pipes themselves should have two brackets welded to them to fit onto the two bolts in the frame.
The covers bolt to the body, where the rocker panel moldings would normally be on a non-sidepipe car, and use the same screws, in the same holes.

Thanks for your relply.  It seems I am missing the insulators that the cover bolts to that then bolts to the car.   I may have them and just didn't know what they were.   Thanks again.

On mine, they look a lot like the upper rubbers on a shock absorber only bigger.
