did 72 conv's come with shoulder belts. were they standard or optional. i see some mention of them going thru the seat in the assembly manual but i don't see any provision for this.

Gary,
I believe shoulder belts were optional on roadsters and standard on coupes. If yours had them there would be a small plate on the door side of the seat back and the metal trim up by your head would have a slot in the indented part of the trim.
They can be added to your car, however they are pricey.

GM does or did make replacement sholder straps for about $80, not sure of the part number. They did go through the seat back and from the numbers a good many convertibles did have them.
