Vette(s): 71 Colonnade Hardtop Coupe Torch Red with black interior originally L48 built to push around 360hp
Do any of you know where I can pick up a shoulder belt (black) and retractor or just the retractor for a 71? Probably used because I really don't care to spend $300-$600. Thanks, Terry

I take it your retractor is not working. If so, you might try fixing it. I had one that retracted very weakly, always needing help. I popped of the round plastic cover on the retractor (VERY carefully, to prevent getting the spring in the face) and took out the spring. Evidently, when Ssnake Oyl re-webbed the belts, they screwed-up the spring on this one. Toward one end the spring was bent up and had lost its normal spring curvature. I cut that few inches off, bent a new hook on the end, and re-installed with a few more turns (pre-loaded spring force) on it that it had before. Works much better. If you try, you'll need a second set of hands to help wind the spring back up OR be pretty creative about how you rig up something to help you do the task. Don't let me scare you off though. Overall, it's a VERY simple device.
Good luck!

If you decide on replacing it, try Dynamic Corvettes (www.dynamiccorvettes.com). I bought some used seatbelt parts from them last fall and they are great to deal with. If you do, make sure you specify your model year because the hardware doesn't interchange with every year.

You might want to try these people: http://www.ssnake-oyl.com/
They didn't have any problem coming up with new retractors for my 75. They don't look the same, but fit and work the same as original equipment.
