That piece goes BEHIND the bumper cover and keeps the form of the cover from collapsing when impacted.

You are correct, Sir! But there IS a different part that is just like the top part...the angled, pointy part of the above, but it bolts on to the upper license plate holes, and it sticks out quite a bit farther than the front point of the bumper cover, to protect the cover if ya happen to accidentally bump into yer garage wall, or another car. I've seen them in the past, but danged if I can find one anywhere on the 'net....maybe they weren't all that good, so no-one carries them anymore....who knows? Unhappy

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
Interesting but I'm not sure any of these bumper guards from BumpShox will fix on a C3.  I did find my list of items I wanted for my corvette as I fixed her up.

They were from Eckler and were called Front guards they also had shims so you could adjust how far out they came.
Part Number for the guards 26780  cost around $39.00
Part Number for the shims 26821  cost around  $ 8.00

That is the good news.  Bad news I could not find them on their website nor in any of their catalogs.  Looks like they went the way of the dinosaurs.

Sorry about that.  I think they could be made easily enough using wood and painting it black all you need to do is to make a nice wedge with screw holes to bolt on to the license plate that extends past the nose of your car.

Vette(s): White '79 Corvette. It's a driver.
Thank you all for giving this your time! (I've been healthy and working again so my time here has been limited.)

The larger item is not what I had in mind, although I may consider one if I completely strike out on the smaller one that fastens only to the front upper license plate screws.

I'm gonne give Ecklers a call and see what they come up with.

I also may screw around and try making one up meself.

Thanks again for your help on this!

Let me know how it turns out.  If they have more than one set I will purchase it also.  If not I will make a set from wood most likely.  Paint them Black or something.  I have issues in the past with pulling to close.  I would much rather hit bumpers than the nose.
