Hi All,
Will seats from a 1979 or 1981 Vette. Fit in a 1976 Vette without any alterations?
Thanks,
Darrell

Vette(s): 1981 Great White Shark. Red Interior, 350/190 hp. PS, PB (SS), A/C CC, T-Tops. Served three years in Active Duty Army, then Retired Air Force after 34 years! Badger State Vettes Car Club. 175,000 Original miles!! Now own a 1998 C-5!
The seats for the 1981 are different than those of the 78 or 79. The big difference is that the passanger seat of the 81 folds flat in line with the rear area.

The seats will not fit but the frame rails and the plastic form that the seats fit in, may. Confused??

I have 2 '78's, so I did a little checking. The regular production '78's have the old style seats while the Pace Cars have the new style that would be used in the '79's - '82's. I took a couple of pictures under the regular '78 from the drivers side. I couldn't get under the Pace Car on the driver side cause I have it backed in tight against the wall on that side. From the passenger side as best as I could tell it looks the same as the regular '78's. The front bolts measure 16 in. across. Front to back they measure about 19 1/4 in. Is the floor pan the same on a '76 as a '78? If it is it looks to me like it would work. I don't know if there is anything else that may effect the fit??
