Thanks for the compliments everyone. And it does look like the foam will make me sit higher. Good thing I pretty much only drive the car with the top down! Big%20smileRolling%20On%20The%20Floor%20Laughing I have a little difficulty getting in the car as it is. No tilt/telescoping column, so entry is a little difficult for a 6'3" guy. I have a 14" diameter steering wheel that I'll put on, so hopefully that will help even things out. And yes, I DO have power steering! Wink

Willcox has great prices........just make sure that you use the forum specials to oder from. Tom at Willcox worked with me to custom make a set of full leather 79-82 seats with 4" bolsters........but I needed them covered in 74 interior silver. They came out perfect........I bought them complete..........very nice people to work with and great pricing. We need them as a sponser.  corvette440hp2008-03-13 10:32:06

I decided to go ahead and put the seats in. I may not do the interior this spring - the weather's getting too nice LOL. Here's a pic of them installed. I knew they would sit taller than the original seats. I now need to decide if I will keep them. It is very difficult to get in and out of the car now (like it wasn't before Shocked). I'm 6'2", and my legs literally can't squeeze between the steering wheel and the seat without some contortion. I know I have several options:

1. Live with it...LOL
2. Recover the original seats and put them back in and try to sell the others.
3. Install a tilt/telescoping steering column (not really jazed about that).
4. Maybe find an adapter that makes the steering wheel removable (anyone have experience with this?)
5. Mount the seats directly to the floor - no tracks. that would definitely get me more room.

I do have a new steering wheel, but it will only provide a tiny bit more room. I'll live with it for a little bit and see if I get some inspiration (or throw my back out....).

It is nice having new seats in the car, although it makes the rest of the interior look significantly worse. Confused  LOL

John,
Unless someone else is going to be driving your Vette (and that violates a cardnial rule), bolt it to the floor.
It will be custom for you and if you ever sell it, you can make it standard.

I had some more time, so I went ahead and put in the new steering wheel (it's kind of nice that I've ordered most of the interior parts - I can grab stuff as I need it). Here's a pic. It's a 14" wheel, and although it's not a huge difference in space, I can tell the difference. Oh, and the new horn button looks great too. The old one looks like a dog chewed it around the edges LOL. jgoglick2008-03-22 18:50:07

Nice looking wheel.
I never measured mine. Do you measure the outside diameter or center to center?

Grant makes a Vehicle Security System that is a steering wheel adapter that allows you to remove the steering wheel. This would help you get in and out easier and provide security if you are away from the car.Big%20smile Those seats look really good. I like the smell of my old leather.LOL

It's the outside diameter.
