I got an email from Willcox Corvette over the weekend warning of an increase in the prices of interior pieces very soon.  Anyway, I need to get some more parts for my resto and was looking for opinions on seat covers.  The leather-like covers are cheapest and supposedly very durable.  I had been leaning toward the OEM-style vinyl/leather covers but the price of leather-like makes it attractive.  Also my 'Vette is a driver so durability is an important consideration.  Anybody have experience to offer from either side?

I'm putting in the later model seats in my '71, and I went with the 100% leather covers. They were the most expensive, but they also feel pretty darned good. I expect they'll hold up just fine. Get whatever fits your budget - just don't skimp now and then regret it later.Wink

100% leather would be niceThumbs%20Up! I bought the Corvette America OE style that were already done up on the foam. I'm gonna slap seat covers on them anyways when I put them in cause their oyster. I had the same doubts about the quality of the leather like ones. Lets see some project pics!

FWIW:  Original Corvette leather upholstery had vinyl skirts.  Only the seating surfaces were leather, so a stock replacement would be a combination of leather and vinyl.

I have the leather-like from Willcox and it's great. It's not like vinyl at all.
This is what it looks like:

I got mine with it mounted on new foam. I'm very happy with it. Everyone thinks it's leather.

The most likely place to fail first is at the stitching on the driver's bottom seat toward the outside. That gets the most wear.
So select a material and company that will give the best durability in that area.
The nice thing about the seats is you can swap the driver's with the passenger's.

I had my driver's seat fixed (had a small rip) 2 years ago by a local ulpolstery shop. They did a great job matching the original material, which is the leather-like vinyl.

Has anyone bought or seen a set of the Driver Leather seat covers from Ecklers? I guess they are a lessor grade of leather and come in black only. They are $100.00 cheaper than the regular ones in the catalog.

I agree with the poster who advised that you not skimp now and regret it later.  I wreslted with this question, and ended up spending the additional money for the leather.  Leather is also very durable if taken care of.  I plan on putting seat covers over the leather for daily use and only taking it off when I'm showing off the car.
