When it came time for me to replace my seatbelts i went with complete new set from a F-Body car. There aren't anything like the originals but for my car that doesn't matter. There are alot easier to use and have more room for my 250lb friend. There is no retractor uder the seat any more to collect dirt and rust.  http://hometown.aol.com/bmclau5079/page3.html

Brian;

   Heres to you!  The shoulder belts on my Red Vette were cut off by the prior owner, and i would have paid the $250+ to replace them with Vette Belts.

   One more reason why i love this place, the information is there, even when you dont know to ask for it.  dave.

Great job Brian! This is exactly what I need to make a new seat belt setup. Now I need to do the search for a black set to match the interior.....this may be the hard part.

So I am assuming that I need 93 - 02 belts, and the receiver part is not very clear as to what would work...you listed only a 91 T/A.

Would this work for a 79 also?  My drivers seat belt is a bit ....ummmm....   tight.

 Okay I admit it, I could lose a little weight and it'd be fine but......

Do a search on Ebay and you can find the seatbelts for a good price. Use the rear seatbelts and you will have no problems. I had to have something for my vette also. I felt like something was missing without the shoulder belts. I came across the F body seatbelt thread and decided to go that way. I now feel much safer when I am in my vette. I have about $50 total in my seatbelts and mounting hardware. I used all new grade 8 bolts for everything.

I don't think the mounting is the same. The retractors have to sit flat in oder for them to work. The earlier C3's (up to 77). mounted on top of the wheel wells behind the seat.

Steve

What is the model number of the belt.  I have a pair of what I think are 1972 belts, but they might be saddle instead of dark saddle.  Let me know the number and I'll check them out.  Is the female end on the inside and the male end on the outside?

I just bought a brand new set of 72 belts from Andover Industries in Maryland.  They are exact duplicates of the orginals without the idiot light connection.  The complete set of shoulder and lap, plus mounting bolts and chart boots was around $400.00.  these guys supply all the other vette vendors who tack on some hefty profits.  You can track Andover down on the net by going to www.andover.com .  Ergo - my old set is presently on ebay so have a look maybe you can get Snakeoyl to do a miracle.....Good luck...Keith.
