Anywho...Wednesday, I bounced my leg off the front of the '74 while scoochin past it, and heard a noise, but dint really think that mooch aboot it...until today. I pull the cover back, and find this.....😭
SONOFAB👀CH!!
This is an original, GM, NOS urethane cover.....Golldang thing should have lasted longer than 21 years....dern thing will just fall apart in my hands now....

Been doin' a few too many leg curls me thinks...!!! 🤣
If N.O.S. means what I think it does wouldn't that make the "plastic" closer to 45 years old? Technology being what it was back in the mid-70s I'm a little surprised that the bumper has lasted as long as it has. Please don't get me wrong, having it disintegrate like it did does indeed SUCK...!!! I do feel your pain. 😢
I wouldn't recommend another N.O.S. replacement as the same thing would likely happen. Hopefully the aftermarket world has come up with a material with better longevity for those particular pieces.

Mine started falling apart just sitting in the garage. The other choices besides the urethane one is a fiberglass one or a Tru-Flex fiberglass one. From what I've read, they both require "fitting". I got a new one from GM about 15 years ago and it's still in the sealed plastic bag in a dark corner of the garage. Still feels flexible but it's not painted yet.
