The part of the body in front of the hood appears warped. This warping has caused 2 problems. One is cosmetic as there is about a half inch difference in the height of the hood and body where they meet in the center. Two, my headlights jam when when I turn them on. They are released when I push down (toward the ground) on the panel at the rear of the headlight door. What could cause this? Make it a cheap fix please.

This the headlight door where it contacts the body. Both contact points are to the center of the car.

The hood/body height difference

If you need a hood, your welcome to my stock '81 hood. Just have to get it painted white.
I wonder it the hinge bearings are sloppy causing the headlight doors to jam???

I'll show you the next time I see you. It's not the hood, unfortunately.

Oh boy thats not good.
If you have good insurance, just run it into a tree and let the collision shop fix it.

I bet yer on the right track there, Sarge. Could also be an adjustment that needs to be fine tuned, but slop in the bearings or the housing would be the first place to look.

Do you have little bubbles on the header strip surface (between the headlight doors and the hood)? The header strip rivets rust from below and pull the bracket away lowering anything mounted to it.

John, no bubbles but I would guess that is the cause. There seems to have been 2 aftermarket paint jobs to at least parts of the car. I'm guessing that those rust spots were hidden at some point.

I hope the problem isn't the headlamp header bar pulling away from the body, but if it is...
Looks intimidating, but I think with so time and patience its doable.

Darryl, I believe that is the problem. One that I will have a body shop tackle when I have it painted. That won't be this year or next probably. I want to take a couple yrs of driving enjoyment before having it painted professionally. Besides, it adds character!
