Replacing windshield

anyone done any research to find the cheapest windshield frame..

mine is garbage..  I need a whole new one + windshield....

i know they are expensive..

but while im hemorraging money i might as well buy one.. 

btw.. i spent 9253 on this money pit since jan 1....  so ive been walking kinda funny

There is a used one on ebay for sale as we speak.  Search ebaymotors for 1973 corvette windshield frame and that should doit....

Sounds like you got it handled. How exactly did you buff your trim, and what did you use ?  I'm way behind with my projects  and this is one of them. When you sit back and take a look at the finished results, it makes it all worth it.

As far as the trim I used a fine tripoli rouge (white) for stainless, aluminum and chrome and a medium (not too soft)  buffing wheel on my open bench grinder. Took a little time but just have to be careful not to lose control of the piece and have the grinder eat it up... It did come out nice as did the chrome i guess Distributor cover...

Know what you mean about being behind Warbird... I thought I had plenty of time and now I'm getting down to the wire before some cruises.... and pass side power window is acting up but i'm hoping just bad contacts... next big job will be replacing valve seals..... right now I just want to drive it with the top down.... suppose to reach 80 by Wed...  and i WILL take off...

My "money pit" is still in storage. Between the snow, and now the floods in the area, I don't think I'll have it out until this weekend.

I still have to do the door panels, door strips, install the stereo and speakers, repair the AC ducts (behind the dash) which should be fun, fix a new lose mirror, fix the leaking T-Tops, and then the windshield frame.

After that, I'll polish all the trim. BTW, where did you find the rouge ? Once all that's done, I'm going for a nice long ride !

Well windshield header repaired, valve stem seals replaced, A/C compressor/dryer replaced (converted to 134) OK right now...adjusted all the wetherstrip best I could, replaced pass side window lift motor, and fixed the wire for the window switch that was caught in the emergency brake after I redid the center console (duhhh). The polishing rouge I had lying around from way back when... it lasts a long time..

I'm gearing up for Skyline Drive cruise now... just need to change oil. One other thing I really need next is  my throw-out bearing is beginning to make some noise (age is showing I guess like the valve stem seals)... need to get it up on a lift sometime soon...
