Hi all, I am new to your site and have a question for those of you who have hopefully come across this before. I am helping a friend rescue a '71 from the scrap yard due to neglect and a previous life in a salty environment. We are converting this car into a restomod with a modern chassis and suspension underneath and an EFI engine and 5 speed, but keeping the body mostly stock.

The owner is not happy with the original seats and we are on the hunt for a set or '81 seats (complete) that offer the powered drivers seat possibility. We've been told that these seats will be a direct replacement for the '71 seats (outside of the necessary power requirement for the drivers seat).  Obviously, we'll need to restore these seats so we're not concerned about the color.

Does anyone out these have any guidance as to where we might find these seats?

Thanks, Ralph Ridge

I picked up a set of used clamshell seats for my 71 on ebay (the fiberglass parts only, no cushions). I repainted them, and ordered new cushions from one of the online vendors ( I think Corvette America, but I've slept since then). I still haven't installed them. Maybe one day. Oh, you will also need to swap the tracks from your original seats to the new ones, but that's not a big deal.

SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

Might want to look into seats from a Pontiac Fiero or a C5 Corvette.  Both are common swaps.

Vette(s): '73 L48 Coupe, 383, M20, A/C, Electric Windows. Matterhorn White Jet-Glo w/ Dark Blue interior. Rochester, Edelbrock, Blackjack Ceramics, Borlas w/ 2.5" mandrel X over, Cooper Cobras on both OEM Steel and Aluminum Wheels.

I too have heard Pontiac Fiero seats work well. Can't blame the need for a seat change, comfort-wise anyway. Those stock seats are really killers, to me anyway.  👎

Don't know what color your interior is by I have some medium saddle like new that I pulled because I put C5 seats in my '75.  You have to use your rails as I used mine.  I have more pictures and they are currently on FB Market Place if you search C3 Corvette Seats. asking $800 obo

God  Bless, rick
