Has anyone ever replaced power window motor gear? Not enough room to work; cannot imagine how to unbolt and work on motor (I have 1971 coupe)Thanks!

It's been awhile, but I think that if you loosen the window regulator you can reposition it to gain access to the motor. You may need to drill rivits out and replace them with bolts.

If you have the chassis repair manual, I believe you will have to remove the entire regulator assembly.
I don't remember rivets on my 70 but they may have been removed before I got the car. There are rivets, that break, on the tabs where the motor mounts. If you close the door and you hear a rattling around the rivets are probably broken.
It is not difficult but is very tedious. It will take a day for those weekend warriors like myself.
You may want to service and rebuild the entire regulator while u have it apart.
Also, the manual shows that you will need to put a bolt in place to hold the spring before removing the gear.
If you don't have the manual I think it is available through this site at a discount.
