I have a black '81. The edges of the finish on the rocker panels are nicked and worn, so I was hoping to refinish them. They appear to be black anodized, but not sure. Does anyone know for sure what the finish is? If black anodized, is anyone aware of a facility, hopefully in the midwest, that does this and approx. what they would charge? (I am in Cincinnati.)
I would also be interested to hear how others have gone about cleaning up their look, like painting them, etc. If anyone has polished them down to bare aluminum (if that's what they are), I'd love to see a picture to gauge what they would look like that way.
Thanks!

I believe that the finish is anodized. I checked into the Eastwood Co. The have a spray coating and etching spray to replicate the satin black trim finish. It's listed under "Trim paint". Hope this helps.

I just did the center stripe on mine with an exterior trim black from Advanced Auto and when I pulled the tape off, all the paint came off too. I ended up using a brass detail brush to get it all off. I am interested in hearing about your outcome with the eastwood product.

I have black/black 80, Don't know what you consider "anodizing" to be, but the rockers are satin black paint (from the factory) I have owned I think 8 c-3's, and all are the same.
