I havent got the parts yet,but I'm planning on stopping by my local Lowes. You said its the smaller of 2 hoses? 5/8"'s? I think Kyster is correct,& I wont,at least now, have to get to & check this vacuum valve you've mentioned. Now I'm stuck on which valve to use,but there shouldnt be that much pressure,so a ball valve should work fine, rite? I went to an air show my local club was invited too this last Sunday,& didnt take the tops off at 7:30 am when we went over cuz it was overcast & drizzly, but after parking there it got quite warm, & on the way back put on the vent,& man the air coming out of there was almost hot this time.

Jon

Typically the ball valves are rated at 125 pounds (minimum) and "WOG" (water, oil, or gas). They should not have any problem whatsoever on the smaller (5/8") heater hose line. Like Ken suggested, open it every now and then to prevent any solids from accumulating in the un-circulated coil and piping. The valve I used (from Lowes) had 5/8" hose barb connections, the only other things I needed were properly sized hose clamps. Try to locate the valve as far away from the exhaust manifold as you conveinently can because the heat from the manifold might melt the plastic off the valve handle if it's really close.

Man, I love this site............ My local Corvette club meets in the service bay of a Chevy dealer, and I get more solid tech information in one night on this site, than I have in two years of club meetings. Adam, ten bucks a year is a stone bargain! |thumb|

i plan on installing mine behind the gills. you can access it from under the car or us lucky enough to have removable gills behind the gills. it will be out of sight that way. a ball valve or quarter turn valve or a vacuume valve will be better than a gate valve as the gate valve is larger and requires more turns to close.
