Here is a before and after of a seat bottom that I did, in leather.  I thought the hardest part was getting the new cover centered on the new foam.  I took my time and they came out great.  They are completely wrinkle free.  I am really glad I di them myself.

I did mine last winter and it wasn't hard. Just check your seat frames like gunslinger said. I found I had to do a like repair work to the drivers seat frame. I also bought the seat cover install kit. It comes with a tool that lets you poke through the foam and grab the hook. Also remove the flashing from the new foam. Its the ridge caused by the mold parting line. If not you sill see that line through the seat cover once it is installed. I took me only a couple of evenings in front of the TV to get the new coves installed with the foam. Good luck

Good Luck.. I did mine a while back and other than some sore hands they came out great. Alittle trick I did was when I had the seats completly done I used a curtin steamer to remove the wrinkales, this helped alot. Good luck and if I can help give a holler. George

Are the new springs supposed to be longer than the original springs were?

What springs are you referring to, the S shape wires running across the seat base and back? If so, they should not be longer. If it is the hooks that connect the seat cover to the wires on the back of the foam than they can be a little longer. I found the hooks that came in seat rebuild kit to be a little different in length than what came off the seats. I used a mix of the original ones and the new ones when putting the seats back together.

Thanks! I was wondering WTF was going on. The original springs fit within the frame. The new springs are approximately 6 1/2" longer than the originals.

Well we got one complete seat together & it looks really sharp. I'll post some pics in a few days. The upper cover is way more trouble than the bottom. We had to replace everything & encapsulate the frames as there was a lot of surface rust. Hopefully we'll have the other seat done before we leave for the Caribbean next weekend.

C3RVETTE, just saw some pictures from Al Knoch imteriors with the two tone.  They look great and are a very good way to customize the interior to match the exterior.  That picture of the seat bottom before was only the tip of the iceburg.  Even though it took about a full day per seat, I am still glad I did it myself.  Many people arestunned when I tell them I did the interior myself, it is a good feeling.

Here is a pic before and after
