Vette(s): 1978 Corvette Light Blue Pulled from the swamps of Miami! Its a driver and back on the road!

In a prior post about weatherstripping I posted I am having the car re-painted. SO the rear window chrome trim strip needs removed.  What is the answer to removing it with the least damage.I have not checked the assembly manual yet but will.  Also I have a 78 and chrome is the proper trim piece, where 79 goes to a black piece to match the front windshield strip.  To me the black would look better as it will match the front piece but it would not be correct.

Anyone with answers or wants to chime in on the color would be greatly appreciated.

Check out Eastwood products. They make the plastic trim removal tools, also have the Black trim paint if you want to paint them black. Great products and almost all products will have a youtube video to help explain process to you.

Thanks for the info. I will look up Eastwood and try to remove it to use again depending what it looks like after I get it off. Just the decision to leave chrom or paint it black.I think it's better black to match the front and also the panels are black under the doors. It is just not the correct color for the 78'.....but it's a driver not a show car. Decisions decisions? I think once I remove it I will paint it and then see how it' looks. If I don't like it I will purchase a new chrome one to install. Again thanks for the help! Mark

Vette(s): 1982 corvette crossfire production numer C5101985. Color is silver and claret. All original numbers match. slight mods to crossfire for better efficiancy and power balanced and added fuel pressure assembly between throttle bodies,
I took mine to a glass shop and had them remove it, zero cost and i was able to touch up the previous owners sloppy paint job on the trim, made it look better until i can replace it. The trim snapped back in place rather easily
