Ok to paint the car I had to remove the chrome trim piece from the rear window. Its been over a year but I thought I read that the new plastic clips could be installed without removing the rear window? It sems a little tight and do not want to mar the glass so has anyone done this procedure recently?

I am open to suggestions and the correct way to install the clips and has anyone had success with the chrome piece clipping on to the clips? The previous owner (Florida Alligator Salesman from the swamps) had so much 3M adhesive holding it on to the old clips I'm not sure what was really holding it on to the body???

Would like to adhere it with the clips and no 3M if at all possible?
