I have no power to either of the inboard rear light sockets(rear tailights). The two outboards work fine; running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. The bulbs in the inboard sockets are p/n1156 and are good.
I have traced the wiring harness on  the inboard lights as far as I can and have continuity. By the way, these lights haven't worked since I've owned the car(2 years).  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Scott

The inner lights are only back up lights not stop or parking lights, they should light up when you put the tranny in reverse with the ignition on Thumbs%20Up

Thanks Ron. That actually helps because a local guy told me today that they were also tailights. I couldn't understand how that would be possible with an 1156 bulb(correct bulb according to the manual). At least that confusion is over.

p.s. I checked for power with the igniton switch on and the tranny in reverse.

if they are not lighting and as you know the bulbs are good, use a test light on the wire. with the power in the car on, that will show how and if power is reaching the wire. if it is reaching the socket, i would check to make sure you have good ground to the sockets. also check that the sockets aren't bad. if you show no power to the line at all that would most likely be the neutral safety switch. eddie208752007-01-08 17:02:17

The only Sharks the inboard lights operated as taillights was the '68. It had backup lights mounted on the lower valance.

Just another thing that makes '68s a bit unique...read that as more difficult and expensive to restore.
