I'm gonna glue the seal on the rear of the hood. Any one have any tips. I can see getting that yellow 3M glue all over everything...

Just follow the instructions on the rubber cement.
Clean all surfaces, apply to the rubber, hold in place.

3M also comes in black, if the yeller bothers you when it skweezes out..
Just put a bead of adhesive around the area on the hood for the seal, and a bead on the seal itself, and let it sit for a few minutes before attaching the seal. Make sure you have it where you want it before pressing the seal down, 'cause it ain't gonna move very easily once it's on there.
That seal will sure cut down on some of the heat getting into the cabin from the engine compartment.

First test fit the rubber to the hood and lightly mark the center on the hood and the rubber, this will help with centering the rubber when you go to attach.
It would be an idea to remove the old glue with an 3m adhesive remover and clean the area after...this will give a better bond. Don't forget to COVER your FENDERS with a towel or fender cover, then a piece of plastic.
Once you have run a bead of glue on the hood and rubber let it set up for a bit, then you can run a light bead of glue on the rubber again, this will give you a little more forgiving time to attach the rubber to the hood. I have found the best glue is the 3m weather stripping glue, black won't show as bad as yellow.

Thanks guys. I think I will try and find the black 3M glue. I'll do a half at a time. My hood never had a seal, so it is clean. Not the original hood.

Seeng as there is no old glue take a bit of wash reducer or rubbing alcohol or spray a little brake clean on a cloth and still wipe the area. The part # 08008 is for the black 3m adhesive

Another tip. When you have the strip in place put some strips of masking tape over it to hold down and in place while setting up. I agree, go with black.

Was the rear hood seal used on ALL C3s? My '81 doesn't have one and I believe the hood to be original. Doesn't look like one ever installed though.
