Anyone out there with an Optima Red Top #75/35 or different model#? Mainly concerned with fit. Does the compartment lid shut flush?
Thanks.

I have an Optima Red Top in my '78. Not sure of the number, but it has side terminals and top posts. I've found absolutely no problems at all in fit and performance. I like its design since it all but eliminates the gassing conventional batteries have considering it's in the passenger compartment. It has such cranking amps and reserve power for its size it acts as if the car is spinning around the starter.
I bought mine at Costco...they have the best price on Optima by far from what I've seen.
Go for it...you won't regret it.

If you like it that much, that's good enough for me. Thanks a bunch!

I don't own one, but I have to back up that recommendation. They are an excellent battery.

Optima is a good battery, the one you are looking for is a group size 34/78... our part number at work is SC34U(SC is short for spiral cell, group 34 Universal(top and side post))... I've got one in my '78 also... these batteries still gas, but not near the amount as a regular lead/acid battery. They are a little more costly, and overall as i've seen, not really that much more in the performance compared to "regular" batteries... Where I work, we sell them, mainly the audio car shops like them for the lower resistance of the battery, gives their radios better boom without dimming the lights. I work for Interstate Batteries Systems, at a distributorship, soooo, I see my fair share of batteries and what some "people" do to them... dont get me wrong, they are a good battery, just be sure to have a good charging system
