Problem with 1982 Wipers

Got a 1982 Collector edition and the wipers won't shut off. Replaced the switch. Didn't help. I am electrically challenged. Can some one give me an idea of why they won't shut off. I either have to pull the fuse or the wire at the Motor. Could this possibly be a bad washer motor?

I'm having a bit of trouble with my wipers at the moment, (1980) - basically the intermittent isn't working right. The late model wiper system seems to be really complex, and i'm far from understanding mine yet. So i can only offer an educated guess as to why yours are going mad - when you shut the wipers down, there would be some feature of the design that keeps power to (or provides a ground for) the motor until it has parked the wipers. I would imagine that when the motor shaft reaches a certain point, i.e parked, some contacts open inside the housing to kill it all off - perhaps these contacts are not opening ever, so your wiper motor effectively thinks it has never reached park...
Could be time for a look inside the motor. Having said that, the controller unit (in the jack box) may be in need of attention. The wires to this can work loose, and conections go bad - it would be quickest to check for bad connections here first, before blaming the motor. Unfortunately, I think the controller is a bit hard to get hold of...
Like i say, I'm far from expert on this complex system, but my gut feeling would be the first idea.
I'm interested to know how this works out - there may be someone out there who's had your problem and might know the answer straight away......
